Independence Day
The most important day in Indonesian history is the 17 August 1945, the Independence Day of The Republic of Indonesia. This year, our Nation is of 65 years old, quite old if you compared it with regular human ages. And this year, we celebrated this special day in a special way.... like how? read on...
Struggle To The Top
The idea of celebrating our Nation's Independence Day through cycling was not a new one. We did it last year. But now it was special because we hajust completed our event, The Denpasar Bike Festival 2010. If you want to know more about the event, feel free to visit www.samasdenpasar.org or just read a brief in my previous post. Anyway, what made it more special was that I took part in it. Yeaah, last year I couldn't join for a reason I forgot hahahaha.. the reason had to be so important that I missed the knee-torture-trip last year... hahaha nevermind. To be honest, a month ago when our chief in command, Mr. Dogle, announced the trip to Kintamani, I was worried ever since. I hadn't been able to really go cycling regularly because of two big reasons, the Ngaben Ceremony of my father in law and yeah, the Denpasar Bike Fest 2010. Typical classic reasons, eh? I know..
17 August 2010
To make the story short, the judgement day came.. hehehehhh.. Since there have been mocking around the gang, "The Lelasan Berseri Cycling Community", about whoever could not participate in the program, I decided to boldly join in. There were about 30 cyclists gather at Mr. Dogle's house, by the way, he owned the biggest catering company in Bali and he's our best friend hehehe. The major group came from our very own cycling club, the Lelasan Berseri and the others were from the GT Bikers. Whew, the worry grew even bigger... what if I could not make it to the top?
At 7 am sharp, we departed. Slowly we broke into the calm traffic of Jalan Gatot Subroto heading towards Penatih area. It felt good riding amongst senior cyclists in slow pace.. hehehe huhuhu... Not long after, well about an hour, we arrived at the Nasi Ayam Kedewatan, a well known traditional restaurant in Ubud. I thought we would stop and had breakfast, but unfortunately the group went on. And this was the beginning of ascending slope.. hehehehe.. you bet, it's goin up allright.. slowly and painfully.. hihihihihi...
Bad Experienced
I forgot to tell you that I tried this uphill trip a couple of months before and I failed. it I blamed it on the saddle, WTB, that rarely used for long trip cycling. My butt, sorry, has actually been familiar with Fizik Gobi saddle. I got pain in the area where my saddle met my body, so to speak... hate that back then..
Confidence
This trip, I tried to prepare myself a little bit. Learning my lessons previously, I use my favorit Fizik Gobi saddle and took my favorit vitamin. Hehehe.. you must not fall on the same hole twice... When I reached half of the trip, my confidence grew bigger. I can do this! I sang all the up to the top until finished! The two songs I sang were the "rayuan pulau kelapa" and "tanah airku".. hehehe these two songs gave me energy.... Merdeka!
The Top!
One kilometer before finish point, we passed winding steep uphill.. But it did not bother me a bit nor gave me aching knee.. nope! The optimism wipe out all the tiresome. I DID IT! hehehe.. I beat you, Kintamani....
Thanks to all my friends whom I passed by allong the way hahahahaha.. you gave me strength in some ways.. hihihihi..
JAYALAH BANGSAKU INDONESIA
